The title may be long but the game isn’t.
Having played my fair share of horror genre games and fighting off or running from the undead on countless occasions, I found it entertaining and slightly (neurotically) pleasing to take a citizen by surprise and chew out their grey matter. Is there something wrong with me?
The objectives are simple and easy to achieve. Throughout the game its stay alive or undead rather, eat brains and make more zombies. Stubbs faces his foes, made up of police officers, the military, scientists, redneck rebels and tanks to mention a few, with an array of biohazardous weapons at his disposal including a gaseous cloud to stun the enemy, hurled gut grenades and removing and rolling his head like a TNT filled bowling ball. If something’s out of reach, no problem, just remove Stubbs arm and it’ll do the job for you becoming a second playable character if you will, a very handy, no pun intended, tool when you’re in a bind.
The back-story of Stubbs is revealed throughout the game, ending in a humorous and on a strange level, sweet ending. This is where the two main problems with the game come into play. You arrive at the end before you know it; thinking did I really just spend that much money on such a short game? All total Stubbs played about 10 hours and was not difficult at all. There are very few bosses in the game and only one that is somewhat challenging. You have unlimited health with a twist, which I won't reveal here, that is sometimes good in sticky situations but adds to the ease of the game. The story is funny, the gameplay is enjoyable but the game isn’t worth buying. The only replay value it has is to play it co-op with a friend, which I found a bit lacking once I had already finished the game and knew the story. I would recommend this as a dark comedic game for the horror enthusiast but merely as a rental. If the game were longer and a little more challenging I'd give it a higher rating.
