I really wanted to like Suikoden IV, but perhaps my expectations led to disappointments. It's always hard to give a negative review to a game that you really wanted to like, but let's start with the good points. The graphics are a big improvement over Suikoden I and II although, I prefer the traditional anime-like graphics of Suikoden III. The storyline, gameplay and battle-engine of previous Suikoden III was top-notch and that's why I had the same expectations that Suikoden IV would be even better. So the game started out nicely but when the charcter began to talk and walk around from room to room, frustrating elements came about. I only wished that they would just made the protagonist move better, and a better over-sight map. There was just too much irrevelevant dialogue which slowed the pace of the game. If you haven't played III and go in without expectations and then you might enjoy the game better.
