If you want a game that makes you feel regret...go ahead and grab Suikoden IV!
The Kinda Good:
+ Lots of people to get once again.
+ Cool concept of a story. You are cursed with a rune that slowly kills you the more you use it. Has the potential to be great...if everything around it is also well done...
+ Ship battles, though simple, are fun to play.
+ Goes well with Suikoden Tactics. If you beat it, you can use the data to get new characters in Tactics....that is...if you want to finish this game first.
+ Game is over before you know it. Oddly enough...that IS a good thing in this case.
+ Music is ok. nothing that will stick with you forever...but won't make you run away holding your ears either.
+ Same as the music really. Nothing spectacular, maybe could have been a bit better for when it came out, but it's ok.
The Horrible a.k.a. the usual with this game:
- The story is so horribly pieced together, it feels like a 3rd grader wrote it. Way to ruin a good concept.
- The combat it monotonous and boring.
- Your decisions affect a few things, but mainly don't matter.
- Game is over before you know it. And is painful to play through each minute.
My advice is...don't get it. But, if you must try it, rent it. This is not a dream game, not even a daydream, or even a good thought. It is a mess. Simple as that.
