Im not saying its a total failure, but there are some reasons to say it is. Its short, very few bonus boss slayings, and the storyline about another true rune seems...dense at best. not interesting at all aside form the fact that its supposed to be the first of the series. But hey, one can go item hunting but its not much. anyways, the game shines again in its trademark 108 stars which is the major sidequest in the game even though you get almost half of them during the main story's progress. Some characters from previous installments make a return, and shouldnt be a surprise for those who have played them. Gameplay especially in the world map can be very annoying for those who are impatient on sailing a ship with random battle encounters that are so high that you think your playing an old school rpg fromthe 8 bit era. But if your willing to forgive that and play the whole game through and get all 108 stars and see the ending, well good job. because you will say, 'i played 20 hours for this?' which is the average time one could beat the game at. But notably, its a decent rpg, and only those dedicated to the genre and to the suikoden series would love it.
