i like this one! but then again, do not expect an "uber-massive" game, rather expect a game that takes a time to love. it's like a breath of fresh air to the franchise, and frankly i think that PS2 installment of suikoden so far!
It takes a while to get used to, and the terrain system is quite a bugger but if you're really in to turn based strategy games, and you're looking for a challenge then this game is worth buying.

suikoden tactics has retained the skill system of s3 and s4, you still have to buy/upgrade your skills. they've also kept the "unite" or "combo" system, but they're a lot harder to perform. a new innovation is the "terrain system" where you can change the element of the terrain to give you an upper hand in battle. if your character has the same element as the terrain he/she will become stronger and reagain a set amount of HP per phase.

i still want flick, viktor, and the SDS back though....

in my opinion: this is a novelty game, don't buy it unless you're familiar with the franchise!
