TERRIBLY underrated, probably the most underrated game of the Playstation

I can't believe the amazingly low score that was given to this game by Game Spot. It was definitely a welcome change from all the Final Fantasy games I had been playing at the time. A game that centers around a young boy, son a great war hero, who encounters a cursed rune that changes his life forever. The runes in this game enable characters to use magic and certain spells are able to combine to make one VERY strong attack. The most notable thing about Suikoden (as well as the rest of the series) is the number of characters, which is an incredible 108 people. Not all of them are used in battle though. As the hero, you recruit these 108 people to combat the nation your father was the hero of, but every army needs a base, and you find one in the form of a castle in the middle of a large lake. Some of the 108 sell item, runes, weapons, some upgrade your weapons, some just add some fun stuff to the game (like a painter who makes a mural). This game has 3 battle modes: 6 person turn based fighting (on the field), One on one battle (special battle with a rock, paper scissor format), and Army Battles (a different rock paper scissor format). In Army battles you choose from 3 types of attack: Charge, Bow, or Magic. Charge beats Bow, Bow beats Magic, Magic beats Charge. Its much the same with one on one: Attack, Desperate Attack, and Defense. D. Attack beats Attack, Attack beats Defense, and when you choose Defense and the other is D. Attack your character evades and counters. This is a great game, and also rare at the moment, but with the upcoming re-release on PSP I'm sure it'll be a big hit.
