A good twist of Mario N64 with Mario Classic.
I was really excited to get a new Mario game, which was meant to follow the likes of Mario N64 when they first annouced it back in 2010.
As time went by we found out it would be a mix of the N64 Mario style game with Classic Mario. This would result in an interest mix of a game.
I found this mix to be pretty nice, because it was two classic styles of gaming, and it seemed to work well. But that's all this title really had for it's self.
Mario, and other classic side screen scroll games are well out of date. We've grown up with them, and enjoyed them as time went by.
But for companies to continue using the same aspects in their games, and changing nothing but the graphics. They wont hold well for sales, aswell as people going into their next series of game.
Mario 3DS lands, has some cool moments. But you end up seeing how easy the game is, and you'll see how little content there is from the get go.
If we compare Mario 3D lands, with Mario N64. You'll only need to complete levels once in the Mario 3D Lands, while in Mario N64, you have upto 5 different golden stars to gain. Each time entering the same level you need to do a different goal. Giving Mario N64 a much bigger amount of content.
It's taken me little to no time to complete 80% of this game, and it's taken me less time to get bored of it. There is little to no real use of the 3D in this title. Other than the sparkle of collecting coins sometimes seem to appear outside of the screen.
If your a Mario fan, this game will do you great. If you like the classic side scroller games, this will give you a nice twist in them.
But if you're like me, and like your games to change as you progress, you will not find this game that great for your attention and for your buck.
I found this to be the same with New Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS, and Nintendo Wii. It seems that this will be the last Mario game I will take if they continue to try bring back the classic side scrollers.
If they go back to the route of the Mario N64, and make a brand new open world Mario game. Then I will consider spending more money on my already dust collecting Nintendo 3DS.
