Oh Mario.

Ah, Mario 64, a wonderful game on the N64 that was not easy, I personally couldn't get past the 16th star. Although on the DS i've managed about 105, I don't get it either. Anyway, Mario 64 DS starts out with the princess wanting Mario and the gang over to the castle for cake. Yeah, cake, you heard me. Anywho, Mario, Luigi, and Wario go to see Peach only to discover she was kidnapped, surprised? But, interestingly enough, Mario, Luigi and Wario are kidnapped to! Who can save them? Why Yoshi of course! Ok, yeah, I know, it seems odd, you start a Mario game and you can't play as Mario right away. So, you play the game as Yoshi as you played as Mario on the N64, you enter rooms, enter paintings, complete missions and get stars. As you go through the game you find hats to become the other characters, but it's not the same right? But not to worry, you find certain secrets in the game and can save all of your buddies, and Wario, who I can't figure why the princess invited him. Each of the characters can do what the certain hats did for Mario in the N64 game, Mario can fly and float, Luigi becomes invisible, Yoshi breathes fire, and Wario becomes metal. The biggest complaint I have with the game are the controls, I found them very difficult to get used to after using the joystick. Other than that, the game is much improved on just about every single level from the original game, graphics especially.
The other slight complaint is that the stylus is basically not needed, I never used it for anything but the mini games, those do make alot of things worth it though, the mini games are a joy to play, well some of them anyway.
I would recommend this game for anyone who enjoyed Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, it is much improved and there are about 30 more stars to get in this game. So, enjoy!
