Exactly the kind of Mario game to be expected of.

Super Mario Bros. (1985) Was great, but it was missing out on too much. Super Mario Bros. 2 (1988) Was yet another great game, but there was just the RPG occourance that just didn't feel like Super Mario Bros.
But once you played SMB3, you will look and be amazed, this is exactly the perfect Mario game That everyone can play all day long. At first, I didn't think it was all that great a game; once you completed a level, you couldn't play through it again, The enemies and boss battles were a little bit complicated. It took for me to lose it, buy another one for Christmas, see the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and reach world 8 just to see what an awesome game it is. From dodging the cannons to clutter with Kookie (the first koopa kid that you meet) to using the all-powerful takoonie suit. I conclude that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the perfect mario game in the series.
