A great, fresh and rewarding game that will bring you a lot more than 5 dollars is worth.

User Rating: 8.5 | Super Mario Bros. 3 NES
Super Mario Bros 3, to me, marks the beggining of a franchise that would conquer the world, Mario. Super Mario Bros was a success, Super Mario Bros 2 was a bit downhill, but Super Mario Bros 3 brang it all up again better than ever.
SMB3 has fun collorfull graphics, something new to it's time. Smooth controles and great music only makes things better. Mario will venture himself through variouse diferent lands, from snowy to deserts. You will pass from stage to stage like anyother SMB game, but this time, things get a bit more strategic and RPGish. Throughout the game, you will end up at where I call Toadstool and card houses. In each of them you will recieve a minigame or pick a chest, to win a prize. Prizes include lives and powerups, that may be used at any time of the game, You will also recieve items such as keys to open doors that used to block your way on the world map. You will still jump on goombas and throw koopa shells, but now you can get past a stage variouse ways. Lets take one of the water stage on the first world for example. You may opt of going on the surface, underwater, or on deep ocean floor. All the old clasic powerups are back, like the fire flower, the super shroom and the star. But now you will also have others at your disposal, such as the from suit wich makes you swim faster, the wire boot that makes you jump higher, the moa. suit that makes you turn into a statue to protect yourself, and last but not least, the rackoon suit, wich makes you glide and fly. To fly, you have to build up your 'P' meter, by running. You can fly for decent distances to collect coins and bonuses. But still, with so much good things, like any game, this one also has some flaws. The music is the same on 90% of the levels, you will hear the classic mario music over and over again, unless you are in a castle or on the world map. The controles are smooth, but a bit too sensitive. You sometimes will accidently fall off a platform because you tilted the controle a little. And worse, if you are already walking, loose the controle stick, then tilt it just a bit again, you will run and probably fall from where you are. The dificulty of the game is just right, and gets pretty hardcore at the end. But nothing that will make you stressed out.
The controles are as simple as ever, a to jump and Dpad or Controle stick to run.

Even with its minor flaws and time eventualy attacking the game, nothing makes SMB3 above your great, rewarding experience any Mario game offers. And with the price of only 5 dollars, you can only be stupid not to buy it. Overall, without counting its price (because if I did i'd give this a 10), I give this game an 8.5
