SMB3 is now available on the Virtual Console and it is a must buy. The gameplay is still pretty much jumping between platforms and stomping animals heads in. This game includes an overworld so you can go back and replay some levels, plus there are some levels you don't have to do, so this gives some choice. There are some bonus minigames to get you some more lives or powerups. There are more powerups than in SMB or SMB2, such as the flying suit. The suits make the game a bit more tactical as some powerups aren't suited to well to certain levels. The game can get quite challenging but there aren't really any moments where you are hit by a cheap shot - if you die, YOU messed up. You'll keep coming back to the game.
Audio is good, the music is catchy and the sound effects do their job. Some noises can be annoying - for instance, there is one annoying sound, when you are running full pelt, and it throws a barrage of the same high synthesiser note at you. But fortunately the rest of the sound is more calming to the ear.
Graphics are OK, obviously they have gotten worse as time goes on, but you can tell what everything is and many sprites are very well done.
You can buy Super Mario Bros 3 on the Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points (£3.50) and I urge you to go and get it now!
