(Prediction: 8/10)
good day to you, creatures of the multiverse. i'm NSega, & i've been very excited for this game. & now i'm finally playing it! will it live up to 2D Mario standards?
the menu music is nice & chill, so that's a start. & there's so many characters, i'll start with Mario, as he's the all-rounder, i'm guessing, & maybe i'll try some others. so, the flowers talk, & i want to die. one of them was funny though.
"that goomba looks so serene." *Mario jumps on goomba* "well, then."
i don't want to be negative, but Elephant Mario is rather underwhelming. then we grab a magical flower & go on an acid trip. then we hit stage 2, & i never new how much i wanted to see a piranha plant get out of its pipe & try to dance ballet. and when Mario crouches, he puts his hat over his eyes at the same time, & he looks like a gonk. (gnome-like things related to Christmas in Scandinavian countries, look 'em up) then the 2.5D comes in, which is also part of games such as Klonoa & Tombi. not Tomba. this works fine, but whatever. then the piranha plants start singing. and Mario looks a bit like Sonic when he sprints, just the animation. speaking of, the animations & overall presentation is amazing. the happy music continues, some with vocals, reminded me of Crash Twinsanity, & the levels look gorgeous. honestly the best things about this game so far. not that this is bad, or anything. we have water mains bursting, & still, Mario refuses to do any plumbing. come on, Mario, plumb! and at the flagpoles, we don't get 1-ups, but at least we get reassured by Nintendo with words like wonderful. ha. the controls aren't Mario's best at all, but they're fine, aside from some momentum issues, with slowing down, that is. why are some power-ups made with Mario hats on them? also, the amount of interrupting dialogue. this is Mario, not (insert well-known story heavy game), i don't need constant exposition, or pointless "we need seeds to untangle that plant!", as if it didn't already say that. & the game is starting to become more fun & fast-paced. & at the end of levels, it shows a shot of the stage you finished in postcard form, with the real date & all, i love it. from what i've played, i'm really enjoying Mario Wonder, & i love (almost) everything around it. & i'm playing more of it for sure. i'll give it an 8.
