After the video game crash in 1983, it seemed like video games were just a fad, that they came and went. It seemed the game market was doomed forever. BUT THEN, Nintendo comes in and gave the world the NES, packed with Super Mario Brothers, one of the best-selling games of all-time. Super Mario Bros. saved video games from being gone forever and is considered one of the best games in existence. If it wasn't for the original SMB, the Mario series would never have come to be what it is today.

You play as either Mario or Luigi, going through eight different worlds to rescue Princess Toadstool from the evil King Koopa (before he was known as Bowser). You have to go through 4 levels in each world to confront Koopa 7 times before you rescue her. You go through warp pipes, stomp on goombas, eating mushrooms, and throwing fireballs to make it through each level. This game was such a success, Nintendo made several sequels to it.

And because it was so successful, Nintendo has put Mario in over 200 video games and has become the most recognizable icon in gaming history. SMB is still considered a classic today. It is now part of the Super Mario Advance series for the GBA. SMB has become the most downloadable game from Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel and is on almost every Nintendo console from the NES to the Wii. Simply a classic.
