The 6 Golden Coins starts out as an extremely solid and wildly enjoyable. It has the same map set up as Mario 3 and Mario World and feature the same key gameplay elements throughout. Some of the power ups are different and specific to the game, but overall if you are looking for a Portable Super Mario Bros-esq experience, then look no further than Super Mario Land 2. Graphically, it is a leap forward from its predecessor. The character animation is stellar and that the level design is sometimes too consistent. The only real major flaw is the save system. If you loose all your lives you pretty much start over, all over the coins that you found are returned to their owners and you almost start from scratch (which defeats the purpose of saving in the first place.) Also the final level is exponentially harder than the rest of the game. I might have lost 10-15 lives cumulatively throughout the entire game but the final level claimed 65, count them 60-freaking-5 lives before I finally beat Wario. Its sad that two simple tweaks could have made this game amazing. I expect this kinda of uneven gameplay from other developers but not from Nintendo. I'm a little ashamed right now.
