I've probably played through Super Mario Rpg a total of 3 times. This game was absolutely a god sent to square and nintendo fans of that time. I can see how some people can speculate that a plumber in a red suit would not make your average RPG hero, but hey it's Mario. Getting that out of the way, this game is a classic. The game mechanics are wonderful. It combines a lot of what you would find in a typical button mashing mario with a unique rpg system from squaresoft. The action was still menu based like a final fantasy game but mixed with a timing system to perform special "mario moves." Some characters in this game surprised me by never making it out of this game. Mario 64 and especially Mario Sunshine (hisses) would have benefitted from taking some aspects from this game. The game can be completed for a normal person in a couple days. There are lots of secrets that a strategy guide would come in handy but overall you should be able to find a lot of the stuff. One day, I hope square and nintendo reunite for a resurrection of this game, (besides the Paper Mario Series), and give Nintendo some much needed press. I truly believe that the Revolution (or whatever they rename it too) will give a rebirth to this game, among others of the Super Snes era. In conclusion, take your time with this game. Enjoy all the fun that it offers you. Look up a old strategy guide and find some of the secrets and take yourself back to a time when you were a kid and Mario was still just the 2d jumping idiot hitting his head on blocks. You will love this game. I promise.
