Ok Super Mario Sunshine for GC is a great game that will keep you in your seat for a while until you hit some of the parts of the game that just make you want to throw the controller at the screen. First of all let me just get this straight, The camera on the game is not amazing, as a matter a fact it messes up the gameplay quite a bit, lets say you want to do a wall jump onto another wall to another, well this is when the camera angle spins around you so that you cant even see Mario, so you dont even know when to jump to the next wall. Another problem with the camera is when your climbing on walls, the camera again zooms out too far, and spins over into an angle where its very hard for you to actually see if your climbing in the right direction you want to go on the wall. Anyway enough about the camera now lets go into detail with the controls itself. The controls, are not too shabby though there do have some quirks here and there, such as, when your doing the secret levels where the floating rotating blocks are, thats when you consistently have to move around with Mario so you dont fall off, but Mario is so flimsy controlled that its very easy for you to fall off suddenly mainly because when your struggling to stay on, you just bearly tap the control stick and Mario does his slight start off to do his backflip thing which starts to happen alot and takes away from when your actually moving him, this isnt a big deal at all its just that it really starts to kick in during these certain levels. Now the big concept of Super Mario Sunshine is Fludd. Fludd is a water pump that can have Mario fly in the air, shoot into the air and run real fast, when you progress through the game you will get certain extensions to Fludd such as the Rocket Launchers which shoots you up into the air, which you will need this to get to certain parts of the game, you can also get the nozzle that makes Mario run fast through isle delfino, and can also make him swim through the water at great speed. There is 150 shines in the game, and 7 Resorts/Beaches to explore. The levels in the game are desighned very nicely, the textures in the water when Mario swims are amazing and just the landscaping of the islands is quite good. The bosses of the game are pretty good, yet the hardness of these bosses are fairly easy. A small thing that I liked about the game is when you squirt on the ground with Fludd then belly slide on the water you can just glide on your belly for about 10 seconds straight, I'ts a small feature, but it goes a long way in my persepective. The game would take the average gamer about 12 to 15 hours to beat I would say. Overall this game is fun the graphics are nice, the gameplay is pretty good, and the controls arent horrible, and even though I never really liked the whole Fludd concept, its still a pretty good game, though not amazing.
Super Mario Sunshine is a pretty good game, but I didn't like it that much... It's fun and I liked the idea but it was very short and easy. The idea of having Mario go on an island, and collecting Shine Sprites instead o... Read Full Review
