Super Mario Sunshine features a classical-style Super Mario debut that unfortunately is a little bit underrated.

Super Mario Sunshine, one of Gamecube's original Nintendo games, brings an originally thought out Mario-style game, but features different gameplay than normal. Instead of the normal 2D-platform of jumping and shell-throwing fighting-style, and even the Super Mario 64 3D version of the original games, in this game, you use mostly water and a scientific device known as F.L.U.D.D. to fight the classical and newly made monsters. The goal in this game is to collect all of the shine sprites,( the sunshine mario replacement for the normal stars) to bring sunshine to the island.

The story starts off with Mario, Peach, and the different colored Toads, all planning to vacation it up at a beautiful deluxe resort known as Isle Delfino. They are all very excited to show up, until they realize that the whole island has become contaminated with paint goo, and the creature who caused this mess frames Mario. So, instead of vacationing in the island like they planned on doing, he is expected to clean it all up for making the mess in the first place with his robotic device FLUDD, even though he's never even been there! So the basic conflict for this game is that someone is slowly destroying the island by contaminating it, and by forcing the shine sprites to flee, causing darkness.

This game features about 8 different stages throughout the island to play through, all containing shine sprites and different ways to get them. There's also more coins to collect, just like the original Mario games. Many secret shine sprites throughout the game are available to find and will hinder your way to the next part. Also, similar to the other games, this one has really fun gameplay, just running around and jumping off buildings and things can prove to be valuable entertainment.

Super Mario has become amazingly popular throughout the world, so this game had some living up to so it didn't dissapoint anybody. I personally was very satisfied playing this game, and, with very few flaws and little dissapointment, this game definitely deserves a 9 of 10, also knowing that almost every character is a fat oddly-colored blob, and almost all the talking is mumbling. Other than that, this game is amazing. Just to make a pointer, one of the amazing parts of this game is that the water just looks absolutely gorgeous, and looks better than any other body of water in any game. Other than that the game looks pretty cartoon-y, but I like the style. Anyway, this game is highly recommended to any Mario fan, or anyone who loves jumping, squirting water, or just running around and showing off Mario tricks. This is a great game.
