The pinnacle of platforming.

User Rating: 10 | Super Mario World: Super Mario Bros. 4 SNES
Super Mario World was an early title for the SNES, and quickly showed the world why the SNES beats blast processing. Brilliant level design, colorful environments, many different kinds of enemies, and the game still stays true to what Super Mario is all about. Following Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World had huge expectations, and it didn't disappoint at all. Flawless controls made it so every single death felt fair. The level design is vibrant and varied. No level ever feels the same, one of the big problems with Super Mario Bros. 3. (I'm looking at YOU, world 3!) The difficulty is just right so newbies and veterans to the platform genre will share an equal experience. There are a fair amount of powerups that keep the experience fresh. The music is excellent, arguably better than SMB 3. The game also has a unique addition to the series, this being Yoshi. This is the first game in which Yoshi is a playable character in a platforming experience. Along with great levels, there are many secrets in this game to keep you entertained for a very long time, especially if you go about finding them without the use of the internet. Super Mario World is not only a must buy for the SNES, but it's safe to say, if you don't own Super Mario World, you don't own a SNES.
