Super Metroid, is the only game ever created that manages to find perfection. From start to finish, this game is an absolute masterpiece. The graphics in Super Metroid may look primitive compared to the high polygon counts which today's consoles can produce. However, the graphics have managed to maintain a timeless 16-bit charm about them that is irresistable. The art and atmosphere created by the graphics are the best ever created, even to this day. The graphics are the best the Super Nintendo has ever seen. Everything is richley colored, and Samus and her enemies are very intricately designed. Animations are also very smooth. The soundtrack to Super Metroid is simply the best ever. Good luck finding a copy of the soundtrack, though, since they are notoriously difficult to find. The music does a perfect job of setting the mood, and the ending theme is the best ever. The gameplay here is typical Metroid. You control Samus in a side-scrolling adventure, and you must explore the various hallways of each area, discovering new items and defeating enemies and bosses. Samus is able to obtain her usual good amount of power-ups, including, of course, the ability to turn into a ball. The gameplay may be simple, but it also addictively fun. Play control is perfect, becuse it is not to loose or to tight. No matter how many times I have played through this game, I have never gotten tired of the gameplay. You will be extremely satisfied with the perfection of this game. Super Metroid begins shortly after the conclusion of Metroid II, which appeared on the Game Boy. In her last adventure, Samus managed to defeat all the Metroids, with the exception of one, which was taken back to a lab for analysis. However, as Samus leaves the research facility in search of new bounties, the lab comes under attack. Samus's newest and grandest mission has begun! Although Metroid has never really been about the story, there is a very good one here. You will play this game for the gameplay but will also get hooked on the storyline. Also, there is a nice twist during the final boss battle! Simply, there is no better experience out there. Do yourself a favor and track a copy of this wonderful game down. Then, sit down and enjoy the greatest gift ever given to the gaming world.
