Adventure Beyond the Stars

User Rating: 10 | Super Metroid SNES
Metroid has been one of my favorate video games series ever. This game is not just one of the best sequels but also it's one of my personal favorate games on my best of the best list and my favorate game for the SNES because this game is just perfect.

The sci-fi plot as you read is pritty basic but it's not all that important, platform action games weren't always known for it. This game was always known for the action and the experence of it. The action is all cool as usual you have a facinating arcinal of weapons and the abilities with it. The sprites and bosses are well designed.

But what I really loved about this game is it's not just a game but it's more of an experence. It's all in the level design of the enviorment, from the ships to the alien worlds it really has that feeling from the detail and sound that your really in it, so it has a participation sensabilty to it. As usual with Metroid the levels are non linar so it's a game where you may have to take your time if you don't know all the in's or outs, as well as secrets because the levels are designed sort of like a maze. But that fact was always part of the joy of the Metroid series, because the joy was always in exploration
there was never a dull moment in this game there was always a lot to do, from one passage you venture to the next it gave the game a sense of unpredictability. Sometime usually when you go to point A and B in a game depending on how much you played it you would most of the time expect something and can avoid it easy because your clued in before it even hits or just memorized it. But in this game you get little to no warning on what your going to go into next, my only advice to you is come in well armed and prepared for whatevers behind that door.

Though by the games nature it's actually a short game, once you know all the right place to go and what to do in certain situations then you could actually beat this game in a dedicated afternoon may'be within two to three hours. But that's not a bad thing and it's long enough for me, if a game is too long I get bored. But in a way this creates replay value not just for the game itself but that final cut scene depending on how much time you beat the game in where we see Samus take off her suit, and I'll just say she looks great without the suit. Ahem, anyway you get my point this game is awdsome.

After playing this I really miss this style of gameplay in the Metroid series and I would love it if they made another sequel. Probably one after Metroid Fusion and I know there was that Metroid Prime series on Next Gen concoles but those were first person shooters not a platform actioneer so it doesn't entirely count. For a new sequel there should probably be a bit more of a story to it and may'be even a new character as a character change up, I'm thinking a futuristic ninja who is male of course, it would be like with Zero in "Mega Man X" his attacks would mainly be physical ones while Samus as usual is based on fire power. This character would be either a best friend of significant other to Samus depending on the storyline, well just a thought.

Super Metroid is not just a game it's an adventure beyond the stars.
