“Super Metroid” was a wonderful example of everything that was great about the SNES.
The purpose of “Super Metroid” was the same as “Metroid,” maneuver Samus through multiple areas, defeating all enemies along the way, and obtaining new abilities in order to reach new areas with the ultimate goal being the destruction of Mother Brain.
“Super Metroid” was such an incredible improvement over the original game; obviously the graphics were better on the SNES, but the gameplay was improved as well. The music in “Super Metroid” was incredible for a SNES game, a strong mix of techno and electronica. The map feature was cool as well, the ability to track your progress helped ensure no passageway went unexplored.
The save option was great too, being able to save your progress and recharge all of Samus’ energy simply by returning to the ship which brought Samus to Mother Brain’s world.
“Super Metroid” was a wonderful example of everything that was great about the SNES. If you’re looking for a videogame with engaging gameplay and an intriguing storyline, look no further than this classic from 1994.
