An essential adventure to have if you still have a SNES or plan to get a Revolution.

Ah Metroid how I miss you. Despite being born in 1984 a year before the NES arrived in North America I unfortunately have few memories of playing that great gaming machine. Partly to blame for this was my age at the time and the fact my folks refused to buy one for me and my brothers. When the SNES came out I had my own allowance and my parents finally allowed me to buy a Nintendo game console.

Super Metroid was a deep and terrifying game for me. I could not get past the first level which ends in a fight against a huge pterodactyl and a mad dash to escape a self destructing space station without being scared silly. I have since been able to finish the game but the bosses and music keep the game creepy for me. When it first came out Super Metroid practically bled atmosphere with its moody music and state of the art graphics. It takes time to learn how the game works but when you do you will be hooked. The game has RPG elements in that you find items that make you stronger over time and there are tons of nasty aliens to kill. The bosses are the highlight of the gameplay most are quite big and all take some thought and lots of fire power to kill. The game is one huge connected world which makes it less linear the others.

Super Metroid is a hard game to describe but know that it is absolutely worth the time and money to own and play. It does not matter that the game is almost 13 years old if anything this game is better then a lot of the newer games that have come out. If you like deep and rewarding gameplay, fantastic atmosphere you need to buy Super Metroid it's that good.
