I have heard from many people that Super Metroid is the greatest game in the series, but at first I was skeptical. My first metroid game was Prime 1 on the gamecube. I thought that if I went backwards I would not get the great experience others had for many reasons. I knew what all the weapon upgrades were already, I had played a graphically superior game, and it was in a 3D environment instead of 2D. After recently playing Super Metroid though all my doubts were thrown out of the window. My preconceptions did not matter. The layout of Super Metroid, the puzzles, and of course the final clash with mother brain were all astounding. The remixed and improved music from the classic are still good to this day. Also because of the 2D environment there are gameplay elements that are missing from the latter games in the series such as the space jump and wall jump. I can honestly say that despite the flood of new generation games this title will be remembered as a work of art and a spectacular experience.
