Smash Bros. has always been incredible, but this sequel takes it to new levels of excellence.
User Rating: 9.5 | Super Smash Bros. Brawl WII
I still remember when I first played Super Smash Bros. on my N64. Now, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is finally released after several delays, and it was worth the wait. The gameplay hasn't changed, and that's a good thing. There are tons of levels and characters to unlock, and the roster reaches as far as 35 characters, including Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series, as well as everyone's favorite hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog. The graphics are pretty decent at best, it's not as good-looking as Super Mario Galaxy or Ratchet & Clank Future, but at least it's pretty to look at. There's a new Adventure mode called the Subspace Emissary, however, you won't understand the plot due to a lack of voice acting during cutscenes. The controls have four different options: the Wiimote, the Wiimote & Nunchuk, the Wii Classic Controller and the Gamecube Controller. But you'll probably want to dust off your Gamecube Controller. Brawl's orchestral soundtrack includes original, remixed and remastered songs of past games, and they're nice to listen to. There are neat features like Stage Builder, where you can build your own brawling stage, and the use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for online multiplayer brawls. If you do the math, it equals design to perfection. Only one flaw I find, the crude humor Wario is in this game. Overall, if you're one player or with friends, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will rock your Wii for months to come, if not years.
