One of, if not the, best game for the Gamecube.
This game is almost 5 years old, and the graphics are still quite good. I remember buying this in 2002, starting it up, and being blown away by the graphics of the initial montage showing many of the characters available. I was definitely excited because, compared to the Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo 64, this was definitely next-generation graphics.
I am pleased to say that the graphics in-game are also quite good, and the style of it still looks good today.
As I have gone over the graphics already, I will move on to gameplay.
This game is one of the best multiplayer games out there. In any console. Seriously. The only requirement is that you have to be into this kind of game. If you're looking to shoot up aliens, play Halo or something. But if you're looking for good ole' Nintendo fun, this is for you.
There are initially two types of Gameplay: Classic, and Adventure. Classic is, well, the classic way of playing a Smash Bros. game: Fighting opponent after opponent in a specific level, and advancing as you defeat them. Adventure is a new thing, though. It is what it is, an adventure. There are some larger levels that you have to walk around, killing weakened (but several of them) characters. After beating the game, a new form of gameplay is unlocked, All Star. This involves killing every single enemy in the game. First one by one, then two by two, and finally three by three. The catch is that the player only has the option of healing himself a couple of times. Otherwise, you have to fight the next opponent with your current health. It adds another level of difficulty.
If you want yet another way to play the game, head over to the Events. Here, there are 51 challenges that you have to clear. Trust me, the later ones are very tough and, after leaving the game for a month or two, the lack of practice makes it nearly impossible to beat the tougher levels.
But the best way of playing the game is unlocking everything, and then playing against friends. It is always very exciting.
I have unlocked everything except the N64 version of Yoshi's map. The goal of unlocking everything adds replayability to the game.
All in all, this is a great multiplayer, and a great game overall.
