One to be remembered...
Gameplay:
The gameplay is a unique fighting system unlike any other you've ever played. Recall any character from Nintendo's history, and he/she is in this game. From Mario to Pikachu, Fox McCloud to Samus Aran, Nintendo's finest are all jam-packed into an excellent playing game.
The game shines in its multiplayer mode, where up to four people can enter one arena at once and beat the living crap out of each other. The fighting system is unique in that it doesn't use the traditional life gauge like every fighting game before it. Instead, hitting your opponent will make him more vulnerable to deadly attacks, leaving every hit to send him farther off-screen each time. The object is to completely wipe a fighter off of the screen to earn kills.
Graphics:
Nintendo did a great job of incorporating cartoon-ish models with realistic details. Each environment is based off of a past Nintendo classic, ranging from F-Zero to The Legend of Zelda.
Sound:
Each sound effect is crisp and clear, and even incorporates classic Nintendo sounds to create an old-school vibe.
Value:
There's a seemingly endless amount of extras, and the multiplayer alone makes this game a 2-Player classic.
Super Smash Bros. Melee is like a blast to the past, and a heck of a fighting game at that. Any GameCube owner should have this in their collection.
