User Rating: 9.9 | Super Smash Bros. Melee GC
Simply put, Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of the greatest games in the history of entertainment. Using the best of the best Nintendo characters, SSBM includes many qualities and features that will have you playing for a long, LONG time.

Let's start with the 1-player modes. Like it's predecessor, SSBM includes the Classic mode, where you go through a series of stages, defeating opponents or completing the 2 mini-games, ending with a usual boss battle at the end. Then you have the hilarious Adventure mode, where you hop on Goombas, crawl through dungeons and run along with the F-Zero racers. An unlockable feature is the All-Star mode, where you battle every character in the game with limited recovery items and 1 life. Sounds tough? They have 5 levels of difficulty so that any player may have fun.

It would be a shame to go through the multiplayer function second, so I'll skip to the trophies. Unlike Super Smash Bros. 64, SSBM comes loaded with over 200 trophies. TO unlock them, you must complete various hidden objectives, or buy them with coins which are obtained from battling. The trophies feature qualities from a ton of different Nintendo games, giving you insight on specific things. Examples include Meta Knight from the Kirby series, Ridley from the Metroid series, and many others. It also includes tidbits of info on every players' moves.

There is also an intensive Vs. Record/Melee Record on each and every character. KO's, falls, hit percentage, it's all there. There is also information o the player made names (More info later.), their Most used Character, Total damage taken, etc.

Finally, the most entertaining and lasting part, the multiplayer mode. Players can go with up to 4 people at once, humans or CPUs. There are 26 characters to choose from, so there is no hassle on similar characters. There is also a Team match mode, where players team up on one another.

There are 4 modes, Time, Stock, Coin, and Bonus. Time is when there is a set time limit, and the player with the most KOs vs. Falls wins the match. Coin is when coins are dropped out of players when hit, and all players aim for having the most coins by picking them up. High coin rewards are shot out in a KO. Bonus mode is based on different combos and moves a player uses. SSBM has a great list of prominent moves, such as All Aerial, First Fall, and Stale moves, to name a few. Some increase points, and some decrease points. Last but certainly not least, there is Stock mode, where each player has a certain amount of lives, and the last-player standing wins the game. There are also various Gameplay modes to spice it up, including Slo-Mo, Giant, or Super-Sudden-Death. These modes make SSBM multiplayer matches even more fun.

Battles can get intense, whether it is a 4-player brawl, or a 1 vs. 1, or a team match with 3 on 1. The inclusion of items, which was prominent in the last game, has returning. Players can pull home-runs on each other with bats, toss Bob-ombs and unsuspecting players, and burn them with Fire Flowers. And those are just a few, there are tons of items to choose from and play with.

And if that wasn't enough, the stage selection in the games can boggle one's mind. You can fly with the Rainbow Cruise boat, duke it out on the Pokemon Stadium, and get burned by acid in the Brinstar stage. And those are only 3 of the many stages to choose from.

Overall, Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of the few chosen games that will stay in the minds of gamers all around the world for many years.
