The second installment of Smash Bros. builds on the success of it's N64 predecessor. Whether playing solo or engaging in the awesome multiplayer, SSBM has something to offer almost every gamer. A fighting game at it's core, some gamers might feel that the controls are simplistic but I disagree: the simplicity makes it approachable for new players, but there is a great deal of complexity that can build from that with practice. The controls are sensitive and respond well in battle. Graphically, the game is a step up, with some nice sleek animations and an elimination of some of the problems that were faced in the original. Character designs are more balanced now; some of the unfair advantages certain characters in the original had have been dealt with, and it is easily possible to do well in battle with most if not all characters. The characters give players a range of choices in terms of fighting style. Some of the moving levels provide for an interesting new challenge in game. There are also other new features in this game beyond the one-player tournament and the multiplayer melees. There are now some adventure-mode style sequences that one can engage in for a new kind of challenge. Overall, this is a very fun game that hits its stride in multiplayer action.
