Super Smash Bros. Melee: A follow up to the N64 classic that deserves to be the No.1 spot for the GameCube.
User Rating: 10 | Super Smash Bros. Melee GC
Super Smash Bros. Melee is among the launch titles for the Nintendo GameCube that I got when I’ve purchased the system in Feburary, 2002. It not only brought back such classic characters such as Mario, Pikachu, Samus Aran, Kirby, Fox McCloud, and even Ness from Earthbound, but they added in more characters such as Pichu, Luigi, Falco, Ice Climbers and even Marth and Roy from Nintendo’s then-released in Japan series, Fire Emblem. Their popularity in the North American release of the game finally convinced Nintendo of America to release Fire Emblem in North America for the first time in the Fall of 2003, starting with Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken, or as Fire Emblem in North America.
What I loved about this game is that not only you can unlock certain characters, levels and trophies, it’s the multi-player and mini-games that’ll keep you glued to your televisions for hours on end.
If you enjoyed playing the original Super Smash Bros, or you’re anticipating Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, then you’ll love Super Smash Bros. Melee. I give it a 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend it to fans of beat-em-up games past, present and future.
