Honestly one of the best video games ever!

User Rating: 9.3 | Super Smash Bros. Melee GC
If it weren't for this game, I probably wouldn't have gotten a Game Cube. If it weren't for this game I probably wouldn't have gotten a Wii. Heck, without this game, I might not have become a gamer at all! But enough sap! I've got a review to write!

The Good: It's not perfect but this game is just about as close as you can get. It's multiplayer is a blast! Choose from 25 nostalgic characters and enter the arena in this rip-roaring good game! Since there can be up to 64 players in a tournament match, it's no wonder why the multiplayer is so great! But for those people that prefer a shorter match, the regular multiplayer can have up to 4 players. The graphics have improved quite a bit since the N64 SSB. Mario now has believable-looking overalls, and Kirby is far rounder. But, as most true Nintendo fans know, graphics aren't really all that important to the game. That being said, let's move on to the sound quality section!

The music for this game is INCREDIBLE!,Taking such classic songs as The Mario Bros. Theme and orchestrating them. ...I don't really know what to say next so, ummmm..., NEXT SECTION! *unprofessionalism*

The overall way the game works is far different from any other fighter. There are no 'Super Combos' or 'Best Characters' only simple attacks and fighters that have equal skills. Though all fighters are equally good, there stats differ. For instance, Bowser is VERY SLOW but his defense is second to none! On the flip side, Fox is HYPER SPEED but his attacks aren't all that powerful. Another element different from most 'fighters' is the use of items. All of these items can be used to damage enemies or have some positive effect on you. An example of a damaging item is the hammer. If you grab hold of it, you start swinging it around uncontolably, doing massive damage to your foes. An example of a self-benefit item is the mushroom. The mushroom makes you grow larger, thus temporarily increasing your power.

The Bad: Though there aren't very many flaws in this game, there are a few. For starters, there are alot of unoriginal characters. For example, Dr. Mario is almost an exact copy of Mario. Another example of this is Pichu. Pichu has the same moves as Pikachu but it does damage to itself as it goes along. Though these 'clones' are annoyances, it's easy to understand why they were put into the game... THERE WASN'T ENOUGH TIME TO DEVELOP THE GAME!!!!! ...I'm done.

The graphics for this game cannot be bad-mouthed at all, but sound quality can be slightly imporved. Though the music for the game is amazing, some of the noises the characters make sound a little blurry. For example, when Luigi says, "LETSA GO!" it sounds more like, "I like to eat pickles!". Other than those occasional 'sound blurs' Melee's graphics and sound are #1! Though the unlockable stages, characters, and trophies keep you occupied during Melee's 1-Player, there seems to be something lacking in there. For example, Adventure mode is much harder than Classic mode. Infact, beating Adventure Mode on Normal is about as hard as beating Classic Mode on Hard. Another problem with Melee is its lack of a plotline. A story mode would've made a fine addition! Umm... how should I end this paragraph? *unprofessionalism #2!*

In conclusion, Super Smash Bros. Melee is an excellent game with only a few minor flaws. This is a must buy for ALL Nintendo fans!
