A game worth playing for the Star Wars geek, but to everyone else its just another platformer.

The first Star Wars game i ever played. Never bothered to try out the NES or Arcade Star Wars games. A game worth playing mostly for Star Wars appeal, also had the gameplay and graphics to stand up to other SNES platformers of the time. And Although this game didn't exactly blow me out of the water, it was worth the time spent. And even a second time going back through the game. The story of Super Star Wars follows the outline of the famous movie of the same name. This of course means you wont find it hard to recognize and be able follow the story. While not equalling the quality of games of the time such as Super Mario World and Super Metroid, the gameplay is hardly frustrating. Even though at times the slopply jumping and game mechanics will cause you to miss your target. The game has a nice variety, such as multiple characters and weapons. Also it makes limited use of the SNES's scaling and rotation technology offering crude first person levels. While these levels are hard to control, they are for the most part easy enough to avoid frustration. In fact most of the game is easy enough that most gamepaly deficiencies can be overlooked. The downfall of this being that experienced platformers may not want to take a look at an old game like this. The graphics look great for a 13 year old SNES game. In 1992 this games graphics were considered good but not up to the standard of smoother games like Super Mario World. As that game ran at a high frame rate, such is not the case with Super Star Wars. A game that has frequent slow down. As always Star Wars games excel in the audio department. Offering a great selection of themes from the movie. Although, it is worth noting these tunes dont exactly sound their best on a SNES cartridge. Super Star Wars is fairly short but is fun enough to warrant a replay. In the end if you love 2D platformers, are a Star Wars fan, and are willing to look past the games age. Then you should give this game a look.
