Superman Returns, but is it a good thing? Has it broken the "Superman game curse"...?

The answer is yes....and no. Superman Returns is far from perfect--But it is the best compared to the past Superman games. The game, supposed to be based on the film, isn't. It really has nothing to do with it. Sure, the characters are there, as are the actors who played them, and the only other "film related thing" is, well, Superman himself. There's sort of a plot. Sort of. You'll fight classic supervillains like Bizzaro, Metallo, and, of course, Lex Luthor--You'll also prevent natural disasters. You'll fight robots(just about every superhero game has robot's, right?) , dragons--Yeah, I said dragons. (Unfortunately, it's true. ) And tornadoes, too. The controls need practice to get used to-- and you'll switch between Supe's different powers, using just about all the buttons on the controller, too.

And the camera--It has it's problems. It'll get stuck, lead you to different places than where you're supposed to be, and even not let you see who you're fighting at times.

The graphics are okay--Obviously, the XBox360 has the best, but the XBox and PS2 versions aren't horribly bad. The sound, again, is okay. Some good music, explosions, etc. The voice acting is by the films actors--Not "sound alikes." But, some of Superman's one-liners are corny and sometimes annoying. Length--You'll beat the storymode in about 10-15 hours, probably. The game gets hard and frustrating sometimes, so it really depends on your skills with the controls, how to pull of combos, and more. Also, you can play as Bizarro, and you'll have to..*ugh* find cats. Yeah. Cat's. So, that's some replay right there. There's also costumes, and some of them are pretty cool.
So, you'll want to unlock 'em. You may get frustrated and quit the game, return it, or just play as Bizarro and smash stuff up--Which, is pretty cool. But, the game as I've said, get's hard. Even the tutorial levels are hard and frustrating, so it'll take you awhile just to get past those and get used to the controls.

Flying around is fun--But, there isn't a lot of stuff to smash up in free-roam. Yeah, there's the Daily Planet Globe, cars, poles, etc, but most stuff isn't "interactive." You also can get pretty high into the sky--And that is breathtaking...For a while, at least.

While the game sounds bad, and may or may not have broken "The curse", it's not as bad as the past games. Superman Returns is a frustrating game, but a fun one. Superman fanboys may look past the problems and enjoy it, but "casual fans" may not find it very interesting..or fun. I enjoy the game, but is it because I'm a Supes fan...? Partly, put also because SR can make for a promising and "super" experience. So, Superman's return has brought some fight against "the curse", and it has also brought some good fun, but it isn't exactly..."Super."
