Superman: Shadow of Apokolips is a fun game. When was the last time you could pick up a bus? Or shoot fire out of your eyes? Or fly into your enemies so fast that they simply crack into millions of little pieces? If you haven't done these things often enough, then you should play Shadow of Apokolips. This game is modeled after the Superman portrayed in the newer cartoon series. I think they did a good job of transferring that animated look to the in play characters. I just wish the story was half as interesting as the animated characters are. Then again, who plays comic book games for the story? I really play them because I want to live vicariously. The gameplay is solid, but some of your moves are extraordinarily powerful. Although, you ARE Superman, so technically these whussies shouldn't be able to touch you. In this way, Superman as a character doesn't lend himself to a game, yet it is enjoyable to play as him none the less. Sometimes it is difficult to control your character, so gameplay can be a little frustrating at times. Still, you are Superman. Can you think of someone better to be? If I were Superman, I'm not entirely sure that I would be able to control myself. Unfortunately, Shadow of Apokolips is short, and you will likely beat it in under 15 hours. The good news, however, is that being Superman is fun, and because of this you will want to play the game again. I disagree with Gamespot. I think Shadow of the Apokolips is quite enjoyable, even for the non-Superman fan. It's the first time I've played a game that accurately portrays Superman. Shadow of the Apokolips is an above average action game that you should at least rent to play through. I feel it's a keeper, because, well... You get to be Superman!
