When i started playing this game i originally though that there was little difference from the previous games, i was wrong. With some 27 new technologies, a new race (which is pretty interesting) and new weapons and ship types, its good. They tightened up the interface a bit along with making the AI noticeably better. With new random events the game play is more interesting than before (imagine super alien police ships that are large beyond anything before). With the new system for managing population i found it a little tedious and not all that useful, mainly because you don't need to use it much at all. Of course not having to go back to something constantly can be annoying, so its only really there if you want it to be. If you like turn based sci-fi strategy games, get this game its well worth it.
