Syphon Filter 2 brings all the values of the original to a higher level and beyond.

Syphon Filter series introduced in the 1999 brought us a game which became an instant classic with it's never-seen-before 3rd person shooter gameplay. As the Syphon Filter 2 doesn't differ much from the original in it's core, it's still the same great game but somehow it manages to bring the best from the original and take it to even higher level. The game is backed up with stunning scenario that keeps you excited throughout the whole game. What I like in a game, and where Syphon Filter 2 excells, is that there are no gameplay killer situations. Syphon Filter won't let you put down your pad till the very end. Ingame cinematics are doing a great job on keeping the game intense and interesting as they will give you background on the scenario, give you some idea on the upcoming missions and really let you get into the character. There are plenty of character interactions where you will find additional infos on the scenario and on missions at hand. All the missions follow the scenario but also they all require different approach. In some missions you'll have to be swift and fast on the trigger and on some other missions you'll have to be silent and invisible as one sound you make an entire military base will be looking for you. Also, in the campaign, you will play with more than one character, which is another great way to break the monothony. Character movements are done great, there are a lot of flips, rolls and jumps that can come really handy in firefight or even when you're fighting giant lizards. No, there are no giant lizards in Syphon Filter 2. In game, you have to watch your health, armor, bullets, accuracy and danger level which is a chance that you'll be hit. And not to forget your dearest of all allies - radar. Aiming is done very good, you can either auto aim where your accuracy depends on your state of movement and position, or you can aim manually where you get a crosshair and can shoot you enemies more accurately and even go for a headshot. The new option in Syphon Filter 2 is the multiplayer, where two players can duel in a split screen mode on maps unlocked during the campaign. The multiplayer is done superbly and can provide you and your friends (or foes) fun for a long time. The graphics for the time the game was released are rather good, bringing detailed levels and models, nothing revolutionary though. Weapon sounds are done O.K., but the game would have been just a bit better if there were more environmental sounds. Due to the game's great scenario, even better gameplay, cinematics, cool moves and exciting firefights, it has a great replay value. All in all this game is a must play for every action game fan, as it will leave you stunned after just a few minutes spent ingame. Since Syphon Filter 2 continues where the original stopped, it is recommended that you play the original first and than just switch discs and continue the fun and excitement.
