I first picked up this game with a bit of leftover birthday cash, being a big fan of the PS1 games. I didn't even have the internet then, so the prospect of half of the game being online was a bit daunting. So when I started it up and was presented with the character creation menu I was glad that SCEA had implemented this instead of playing the average old Gabe. The training mission is a bit confusing at first, as are the controls and camera system, but after playing a level or two you get used to them.

The storyline was kind-of different to the previous games, having a whole team of people instead of a cloak-and-daggers type boss telling you what to do.

One good feature is the ranking, which enables you to earn badges an unlock weapons and in a few cases more health and armor, etc.

The guns and weapons are aptly named as their real-life counterparts, though with a sneaky manouver some letters are replaced and things like that. eg. G11 (real-life) is named the C11. Not a big issue, I know, but it's something to write about.

Objectives are pretty straightforward, and there are also secondary objectives to do to earn badges, ranks etc. Which brings me to the online objectives.

A maximum of four players are allowed in one game, and are given code names of Cobra, Dragon, Python and Viper, and players have to work together to complete online objectives as well as the offline ones. Not having co-operative and good-hearted players is a problem though.

If you are planning to go online with this then I recommend buying a microphone so it is easier to communicate with other players,

Great game, if you're not a fan then it's available at a cheap price, and will keep you entertained for a while.
