A Dying Game
Jump ahead probably two years now at least as I am browsing the games in Best Buy looking for something to jump out and scream BUY ME! And there it sits, in the same black and green case, the same cover art. Picking it up I was very surprised to see the price, 9.99. I walked to the checkout and happily paid for a game I had nothing but positive memories of.
Since then I have played this game to the fullest. There are several issues with the game, as there are with many others.
First off is the incredibly awkward camera. It can be very hard in the middle of a fight to be concentrating on which way the camera is going to cut your view off.
Secondly the majority of the offline can be overly simplistic, but therein lies the beauty of this game. The missions are very straightforward, the objectives are clearly outlined. But on top of those there are also multiple hidden objectives that will keep you busy for many nights to come.
The beautiful thing about this game is that unlike in the prior Syphon Filter games where you control Gabe Logan, your character is your very own creation.
As you progress further into the game and accomplish objectives, more gear, weapons, ranks, character models become useable. When you have played this game to it's fullest, your character will look nothing like he did at the beginning.
The online play is another fun aspect of the game. First off it helps alot if you have a mic. There are players who will attempt to kill off players without microphones for no other reason than they lack one. The majority of the player base is very courteous and willing to help with most missions.
I have personally had many people ask me what objective I needed to reach the highest rank of T4 and offer their help. The game and player base may be slowing dying off, but if you are looking for an amazingly overlooked game that can keep you entertained for many nights to come, look no further. Pick it up and you will not be disappointed.
