Taito Greatest Hits
Pros (games worth playing): Battle Shark, Colony 7, Operation Wolf and Thunderbolt, and Space Gun: All of them light gun games which are all good. Some may be put off by the fact that you can't use a gun con for the games but that's a flaw you can easily get past (just pretend your shooting with a gun if that helps) their perfect conversions of their counterparts, colorful graphics, and fast paced game play. The games in this bunch I like the most are Space Gun has a feeling similar to the Aliens film, Battle Shark hard and intense from it's steady pace and danger left and right, and Operation Thunderbolt a sequel not as popular as it's predecessor but better due to the ongoing action and unpredictable patterns.
Elevator Action: This classic despite it's popularity hasn't really aged to well, the control and pace can be a little slow but still it's a fun game to play due to the fact you have to outmannuver enimy spies, use your enviorment to your advantage to win, and it's still a little suspensful.
Volfied: This is a shooter sci-fi version of Qix which is fun.
Super Qix: Some may be put off by this sequel but I thought it was a little better than it's predecessior. For once we get to see some good background pictures, gameplay was a little the same except for the fact you can do more, have more abilities that will give you a big advantage.
Gladiator: This game didn't age well, it's minus would have to be the parts where you have to block arrows and fireballs just to get to the battle which I thought was lame. But the characters are beautifullly animated and one on one battles are worth it. So worth a try.
Electric Yo Yo: Simple fun harmless game where you simply use a yo-yo.
Worth a try.
The New Zealand Story: Strange fantasy game that became a cult classic. It has a lot of cute characters but the game is pritty hard.
The Ninja Kids: Guilt pleasure of mine. Bizzare cartoonish beat em up with a lot of humur and nutty violence. Worth a try.
Phoenix: Shooter may seem a little dated by today's standards but it's still fun since for it's time it was inovative. More different kinds of enimies, various patterns, and a boss.
Plotting: Thought turning puzzle game where you have to find the right way of clearing the screen of blocks.
Plump Pop: Easy but cutsy and fun version of Archanoid.
Exzisus: Decent shooter, not too special but chalanging and playable gameplay which is worth a try. Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands: Both the first and the sequel have an imortal life span. Both games require both brains and bronze. Plus both are chalanging.
Rastan: A personal favorate game of mine. Your pritty much are engaged in a Conan like adventure. The graphics were great to look at which gave a feel of a old fantasy world like in the Conan series, gameplay worked, and also had good audio soundtrack flawlessly intact.
Space Invaders, Part 2, and Return of Space Invaders: You get to play the one that started it all. It's still hard as heck but fun. Part 2 is just playing the game in color so it's not too special. Personally I though Return of Space Invaders supassed it's predecessor and is better. The pacing is steady but a little faster, you get more weapons, graphics are good, and there are different enimies and patterns of attack, arenas, and actually a boss in the game. Jungle Hunt: Didn't age well due to that fact there is a main character that is just completely mismatched for this game (this was due to legal issues with Tarzan, who they originally animated as the main character but took out because of improper licencing). But still the game play is what matters, so the game is still fun. Just imagine the main character is Tarzan and it helps a little.
Thunderfox: A run and gun game that pritty decent.
Tube it: Pipe dream like game which is a little better due to fast pace and more different puzzles.
Zoo Heeper: Harmless game that has an imortal life span. The control isn't too tight but it's still fun to do the best you can to trap wild animals from running amok.
Cons (games to avoid): Continental Circus: Racing game that may have been inovate back then but now it's rather lame due to it's pacing and choppy looking graphics and game play.
Great Swordsman: Lame game based on one of my favorate sports fencing. My advice either play Samurai Showdown or stick to real fencing.
Tokio: A not so special shooter with choppy graphics and pacing that is way too slow.
So this anthology is defently worth it something that will take at least a week or two to try out all games. Plus you'll save money buying this anthology. So if you need a break from all the current games out their and feel like nolstalgia then play this game.
