Playing just one 'episode' is not enough to refresh your love for the monkey island. But its a new beginning!
Many people did not like the new look of Guybrush. Some did not like the 3D graphics. While many hailed the game. I say, one should try out a couple of episodes before drawing their conclusions.
I was too happy that Telltale has revived the series. Games like MI have become a rare breed. And no game has so much humour to offer like the old MI series did. And Guybrush? He is the coolest game hero ever. So this revival makes my computer gaming more diverse.
But seeing the gouty on Guybrush, I was concerned about whether the new game would actually have the spirit of the original game. After playing two and a half episodes (I am currently playing the third), I say the spirit is alive and kicking.
Is there weird humor in it? Yes.
The graphic interface has got a face-lift, but basically it remains as simple as before (point and click). But you can also walk around using the WASD keys. The graphics could have been much better. Then again, the game design aims at downloading episodes like the new episodes of Sam & Max. So you have to compromise with the visual presentation.
At the heart of this game, its pure Monkey Island. The voice acting is also great. Don't be fooled by naysayers-- just go and try it out. Its a great revival.
I gave it 8.5 because it lacks in the visuals, plus it leaves you too much craving for more.
