One of the SNES's best kept secrets....
Came out at the very end of the SNES's life, Tales of Phantasia (ToP) pushed the capabilites of the SNES to it's limit. Outstanding visuals with top notch music and sound topped of with some of the best and innovative gameplay during the 16bit era.
The game started of as many RPG's do with you in your home village but once you leave the village you get to witness some great gameplay, the battle system isn't turn based as much like a lot of SNES rpgs but instead it's more akin to a 2d fighting game with you controlling your character and doing battle. This innovative battle system proved fantastic and was really fun.
The visuals were excellent with beutifully drawn characters and backgrounds. The music and sound are IMO the best on the SNES, excellent soundtrack with some very nice tunes and great sound effects and voices (yes it had voices).
If your looking for a good 16bit RPG , then look no further then this one, it's excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone.
