Tales of Symphonia is without a doubt the finest RPG to grace consoles to date.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret- Tales of Symphonia was my first RPG. I've always avoided RPGs- I was put off by the turned based battles in Final Fantasy- and ive always had this thing with developers going for realism in graphics. Imagine my interest when i was flicking through the pages of my latest NGC (thats an English GCN mag for those of you who dont know) reading on i read about the real time battle system and that was it- i was hooked. I even payed extra and bought a freeloader and imported a copy. 10 hours in and i couldnt put it down- 20 hours in and i was skipping meals- i was intrigued by the plot and the true depth of the battle system. Complemented by the great graphics and brilliant voice acting this is an essential purchase. There are 2 niggly flaws though- The overwourld is the definition of the word ugly andsome of the puzzles can occasionally be boring.
