Worth buying a Gamecube.

I believe the point of these reviews is to advise the reader as to whether or not they will enjoy the game. Games cost money and there are a lot of them out there so you have to choose carefully. Let me just start out by saying this is my favorite game of all time…which is shown through the score I gave it. But we’ll set that aside for now and focus on whether or not YOU will like the game. Gameplay: We’ll start here since this is the most important. Tales of Symphonia is an RPG with your normal party system, stat raising, weapon/armor equipping, dungeons and bosses, etc. I like RPG’s so this sounds good to me, but not to everyone. I'm here to say that Tales of Symphonia is the RPG for PEOLPE WHO DON'T USUALLY LIKE RPG’s. That’s because it has a real-time battle system that has often been compared to Super Smash Brothers Melee. Basically you attack with the A button and assign special moves to the B button. This makes for a fast-paced thrill ride every battle. My first playthrough I was purposely running into every enemy I could find to start a battle because they are so FUN. One of the best recommendations for this game is to just watch some battle videos on this website you’ll see right away what I’m talking about. Anyways the gameplay is perfect in my opinion, and I know everyone will enjoy it. Graphics: OK now this I can see as a turn off to some people. It is all hand-drawn cartoon/anime style with lots of color and characters that look under-aged. It’s kind of like the Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. Anyways I really liked it but my friend hated it (he still liked the game overall though). Again if you are worried that the graphics will annoy you check out some sreenshots on this site and remember that the topic above (gameplay) is more important. Sound: This one is not very important for me but it is for some. Anyways the music is good but I’m not very critical on this topic. The opening cutscene is done very well and the credits are some of my favorite game music. All the battle effects are great so I think the music doesn’t hold the game back at all. Value: Alright now this one counts, especially for RPG’s. This is a two-disc 50 hour game for most people which is not too short or too long in my opinion. Also there is tons of replay value. When you finish you can start a new file with 10 times experience or all your spells and lots more. There are three difficulty settings, the hardest of which makes it almost a completely new game, your skills will be tested, that’s for sure. And there are 9 DIFFERENT PARTY MEMBERS TO CONTROL, all of which have a unique feel to them so you won’t get bored. YOU will definitely get your money’s worth, especially since its only twenty bucks now! Lucky. Tilt: This game, more than any other, I can play over and over and over and over again. I think this game warrants the purchase of a gamecube just for it. I’ve never had so much fun playing a videogame, isn’t that what it comes down to?
