A great RPG with fast paced battles and a cliche, yet interesting, storyline!
The gameplay to this game...hmmm...at first, it's a seemingly normal RPG with cutscenes that are text based, but some have actual speech. This game is just a normal rpg WITH A TON OF THINGS THAT SWIPE YOU OFF YOUR FEET! I dunno how to explain the gameplay, but...it's like a good RPG...
Graphics~
The graphics are real pretty and bright. The charecter desgins are based on an anime-ish feel. All characters where originally drawn by the manga-ka of Ah! My Goddess. All the monsters are colorful and bright, as are the NPCs. The cel shading is very nice. The shadows are a bit rounded, but it has a nice effect. The characters only have a few stances, but they don't get annoying or innurrupt the experiance.
Sound~ The English and Japanese voice actors are great. They fit the character they protray very well. And the original vocal tracks by day after tomarrow are GREAT. It's a real shame that the USA version of the game replaced the great music with seemingly calm, yet annoyingly odd music. As for the bgm...it's odd and annoying...
Value~ Oddly enough, this game is old... however, you'd think it would sell for a price higher then $20 when it's used. The game has two GCN disks, so you'd think it would cost more...
Overall, Tales of Symphonia is a GREAT game. It'll have you running around for hours, just trying to get Lloyd to look like a pirate, or Genis as a cat.
