Another Child of the Fighting Franchise is Born, behold its Glory!
Tatsunoko is by far one of the best fighting games out to date for any system. Though it may not be Street Fighter, or Tekken, but it is a deep fighting experience to play with your friends and family.
Personally this is one of the best fighters I have ever played. Even though I havn't the slightest inkling of who half of the roster is. But that doesn't matter. You can still beat up Ryu with Ken the Eagle.
Graphics--For the Wii, this is one of the best looking games made. Its effects are completely over-the-top and extra flashy, but that makes it all the better. The backgrounds add to the impressiveness of the game, giving the fights some life. Being a 2.5D Fighter, it is graphically sane, and it even looks as if its in HD, which is accomplished by very few games on the Wii system.
Sounds--Despite the fact that most of us in the West wont understand what the characters are saying, the sound on this game is superb. The voice acting is definitely top notch, and the music from the game can get really addicting. Coupled with some stages, it adds a little bit of feeling to what you are doing. The music style is mostly Japan styled techno-pop that goes with the over-the-top gameplay.
Gameplay--As I mentioned before, this game is the child of the Capcom Vs. Series. But it's a simplified child, and in some cases a better one. The game has 4 attack buttons: Light, Medium, Heavy, and Partner attack. Though "hardcore" fighting gamers may scoff at this, but don't just yet-- with these four buttons and some directional inputs, you can initiate powerful moves and combos, eventually leading up to a Hyper-Combo to take chunks out of your opponents health bars. Or, as an effective alternative, you can combine yours and your partner's Hyper Combos to really decimate the enemy.
Misc--Online gameplay seems pretty solid, though I have heard there are some matchmaking problems. I havnt had the guts to go online yet, I'm still a fledgling. But when the time comes, I shall see for myself.
The character roster on here is pretty solid, and well balanced, each having their own fighting style, like for example, spammers and scratchers might enjoy people like MegaMan. Not to be dissing the man, but you can spam tons with some of his attacks. Or, you can try the harder to master characters, such as Karas, whose combos and special moves are harder to pull off than others. The two giant characters might be more useful to those who simply enjoy smashing things, but then again, masterful players can take on tough enemies with ease.
In the End?
Great game, anyone who has a Wii must get this game, and anyone that doesn't should just so they can get this game. They did good with this one.
