A game for fans of the series, others should give it a miss...
You play as any of the Titans, and the game starts off with you watching Cyborg and Beast Boy playing a new game Beast Boy got, and suddenly, they're pulled into the game. At first they don't know, but they begin to notice strange things. The endless enemies, lives, the same combos, and it then dawns on them that they are trapped in a video game. They fight through waves of baddies, beat up a bunch of bosses, including Slade, Plasmus, Mumbo Jumbo, and several others. But, the game comes to an ending which to most gamers would seem weird, but to fans of the show like myself, it's nothing out of the ordinary.
The gameplay is very simple, as it's aimed at little dudes. You press square to do a light attack, triangle to do a strong attack, and circle to do a ranged attack. Each of these can be held down to do a powerful finishing move. Also, you get new combos continuously, though they are really the same combos, just with new moves attatched. So, if Robin used to smack a guy around and then kick him, after getting the combo, he's smack him around and then crack his head with the bo-staff. Despite this, the combat is kept fresh by some simple team moves, occasional boss fights, and the game's brilliant presentation.
The presentation is in proper 3-D, not that weird cel-shading stuff. But still, it retains the Titans style. The characters all do the weird anime things, and occasionally go elasticy when they're making a joke or trying to stress a dying point, just as in the show. The sound is pretty good, the music is what you'd expect from Teen Titans, and throughout the game, you'll hear the Titans having funny conversations, which will provide a decent chuckle. But, some jokes repeat during boss fights, which kills it.
Also, the game is extremely short. You'll finish it without knowing it. They've tried to make the game last by adding in some collectibles, but you'll get most of them on your first play through. There is also a Master of Games mode, where you can play as a truckload of characters you unlock, and this is fun for a bit, but the AI will kick your butt with it's extensive knowledge of combos. Another thing which is kinda weird, is that during some cutscenes with a lot of stuff going on, the voices and characters slow down, which is insanely weird. Also, there is a lot of unnnecessary cutscenes, which all go for about 2.5 seconds, but they occur so much it gets annoying.
All in all, Teen Titans is a simple game with some nice features, like co-op story and versus modes, but it seems that there could've been much more done with this game.
