The best, most stable fighter on the PSP to date.

User Rating: 9 | Tekken: Dark Resurrection PSP
Ahh... Tekken 5 : Dark Resurrection.......

Even the name brings a great feeling inside that can only be took away when you lose a match. It's comparable to the feeling you get when you utterly destroy a 10 year old in Halo 3 via Xbox Live.

Moving to the actual game itself now.

Graphics: Astounding for the PSP considering it's limitations, It pushes the limits of the PSP's graphics system without pushing too hard and causing fps problems. The character models are extremely detailed from the rips in Paul's outfit to the patterns in one of Heihachi's outfits. Another great thing about the character models is that EVERY SINGLE ONE has a part with a physics engine applied to it so it moves in sync when the character moves. For example, when using Eddie's casual attire his gold necklace sways as if it actually is there. The animations are also very realistic and no matter how many times you see a move performed it seems different. And the FMVs...... Who could forget the beautifully rendered FMV sequences. All of them perfectly portray the characters in PERFECT HD.

Overall, the graphics get a solid 10.

Sound: Whenever you say jab someone straight in the face you can hear a small smack. Whenever you execute a finisher you can almost hear the bones crack and pop not enough to illicit a "OUCH" but enough for a small groan or a typical "ooh". The BGM perfectly matches the scene and arena and gives it a sort of "feel" that when even if you don't see the stadium but hear the track you can already describe the place the BGM is used in. The voice acting is also good and perfectly fits the character like Paul's rough American accent or Steve's posh English accent.

Overall, the sound gets a 8.9 due to the fact that it is somewhat lacking in terms of SFX.

Gameplay: The gameplay is obviously the strong point of the game, It is extremely addictive and it has never been this fun beating people up. It is highly recommended you start this game during a break like summer or spring break as it is highly addictive and can cloud your thinking with thoughts of smashing an old man in the face and yelling "PHOENIX PUNCH!!1!!!!". Moving to the controls and replayability. The controls are amazingly responsive leading to the game being highly immersive. The only problem with the controls is the fact that some commands require a blinding amount of speed and precision. The replayablity is top-notch since after all, battering people at neck break speeds doesn't get old fast. Though the mode "Tekken Bowl" is meant to lengthen replayability, It makes no difference in my opinion.

Overall, the gameplay is awarded a close to perfect 9.9 since playing for a long time may get repetitive.

The game itself is a basic engine with many fighters. To interpret this thought I am going to portray the fighting and physics "meat" and the different characters "toppings". The game is basically a BIG sandwich then.

Namco has done a great job again. 9.0 is the score I award this highly entertaining game.
