Get it while you can - £6.99 is amazing value....
I was a little worried that at only £6.99 (I have to keep pointing this out) the gameplay would be crippled, the sound would be awful, or other elements would just not live up to the Tekken name. I should not have worried at all. The game is superb. It shows off a lot of the basic features of the PS3 - I doubt any game really shows off what a PS3 can really do (yet!) - to great effect.
The backdrops are wonderful, and quite animated in some places - e.g. semi nude babes dancing along to the beat of the backing track. Even on a standard television (yes, I am not fortunate enough to own an HDTV yet - or to have got one free from Sony) the graphics are very clear and the motion is smooth and fluid.
The physics engine is obviously in use for the game, and this leads to some realistic falls and movements. The characters are well defined and the multiplayer is well implemented.
As for the A.I. - it seems as if the game learns your style of play. This makes Tekken DR a challenging game, moreso than previous versions. Even on the PSP computer controlled characters were not very good at blocking your moves. However, on the PS3, this is definitely not the case. The computer characters will wait for you to attack, block the attack and then counter attack in a way that is quite simply stunning (pun intended!)
Overall, and considering the price, I would say that this is a MUST HAVE download. But please remember, according to a note in the store, Tekken DR will only be available at this price until late May 2007.
