A PSP fighting game you can be proud of owning.

What can be said about Tekken dark resurrection that hasn’t already been said? …nothing really. This game is a gem. It is quite easily one of the best fighting games out there. Stunning graphics, immersive fighting system, and great sound make this game a must have. When I heard it was being ported to the psp I was skeptical as to how much it would suffer. To my surprise, my skepticism was turned to joy and satisfaction when I bought and played this game. The game looks and plays almost flawlessly. I say almost because you can still notice that the developers had to cut corners (very few ones concerning background details).

The game plays exactly like the arcade and ps2 counterparts. More than 20 characters and hundreds of moves are available to be practiced and polished. The veteran tekken player will enjoy the 3 additional characters available on this port, while the new players will have an abondant amoutn of moves to memorize and put to the test. Fans will enjoy putting theirs skills to the test in all the modes and ranking and those who just want a pick up and play game will also enjoy this one.

I’m just blown away. If you invest on this game you’ll literally be carrying a pocket size arcade in your pocket full with ranking modes, tournaments, extra mini games and downloadable material (which I was asking of a psp game for a while). I mean you get to download wallpapers of the game for your psp backdrop. You also get to download what Namco Bandai call ghosts, which are recorded player data (which include their arcade name, ranking, and estimated fighting patterns). It would have been great to have WLAN connectivity but this is good as you can trade your own ghost with other players the network settings. The game does offer ad hoc multiplayer action (I think up to 8 players that wait in a lobby but I haven’t tried the feature). However, I did try the game sharing and I’m glad to know that I don’t have to have my friends buy this game (which I do recommend getting) to go one on one with them.

THe only real complain I had, which is something players can get used to, is the rigidity of the D-pad on the psp. PSP owners will find it a little tough at first to pull of dragon punch like commands on the d-pad but over time it shouldn't be a concern.

All in all this game is great and every psp owner who claims their psp is collecting dust should now have a reason to use it. For those who love the psp, this is yet another reason to love it even more, and for those skeptics out their, this should give you a reason to invest on the system.
