"Welcome to the King of the Iron Fist Tournament"

User Rating: 9.2 | Tekken Tag Tournament (Platinum) PS2
Tekken. A fighting game that started out on the arcade systems and made its first debut on home console for the Playstation not too long ago. Tekken Tag Tournament was the fourth Tekken game released in its time after Tekken 3 on the Playstation and arcade systems.

Tekken Tag Tournament is an excellently done fighting game that features both old and new characters from the previous games. The fighting styles have been kept for the respectful characters and the gameplay, once again, doesn't fail to impress anyone who picks this up.

This game introduces a new style of fighting. There are two characters on each team and you fight by tagging overtime until one of the team's fighters is completely knocked out. In my opinion, this is a very clever way to play the game. It extends the fight time for that round and makes things much more challenging.

Unlockables in this game include movies, characters, and modes.

Unlocking movies aren't all that you would have expected to be rewarded with, but they're interesting to watch and sometimes to unlock as well.

Unlocking characters are fun to do in pretty much any fighting game that allows it. There are a total of 34 (!!) unlockable characters, starting with 20 when you first play the game on a new file. Some of the characters, such as Tetsujin/Mokujin or Unknown will tend to copy moves on various characters, but desginwise they count as the many unlockable characters you will find in this game.

Unlocking different modes in this game is the most rewarding once you unlock a fan favorite: Tekken Bowl Tournament. It's not just fighting to see who's the best in this game. Feel free to take a break and bowl. Some of the things that happen in this mode, such as the characters' actions or the certain occurances you can cause in the crowd are very humorous. Who would have thought a fighting game would have bowling in it?

The music in this game isn't all that great, but I very much enjoy to listen to them. Each song is made to fit into the scenery that you fight in. And the fighting scenery is a nice, wide field to allow any big actions such as grappling and throwing or special moves.

Tekken Tag Tournament may not be as great as the newer Tekken games that have come out afterwards, but it's still an excellent classic that you can enjoy to play. This is one of my favorite games of all time regardless, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who shows interest in the genre.
