Tenchu: Shadow Assasins is not the Tenchu we have come to know for ten years. Agile and quick ninjas named Ayane and Rikimaru has been replaced with slow cautious ninjas names Ayane and Rikimaru. While this is not necessarily a bad thing Tenchu franchise had a way of its own in stealth gaming and this title has equalized the series with Splinter Cell but with an oriental twist. Yes our ninjas always had their equipments ready and steady but the former titles were glorified with the stealth kills, the intensity of the missions and especially the ROOFS!!! WHERE ARE THE ROOFS??? I know they are there but why can't I linger on them or stomp on my beloved henchmen. There's only a brief moment of roof section in this game but the rest of the game you seem to wander around on the floor like regular folks. And as I mentioned before the stealth kills are important for tenchu. While they are unique for this one, they are rather compatible with wii remote not psp analog. And the SWORD FIGHTS!!!ARRRGH!!! I know everything I mentioned was intended for wii but it still takes away some of the fun.
Anyhow, the music, the cutscenes, the graphics are awesome... Brilliant. Also the plot twists like a snake having seisures since there are unexpected moments all the way. The ending especially one of the best cliffhangers of history. It is empire strikes back's "I AM YOUR FATHER" kinda cool.well not really:) But it's still pretty good...
After all if you like stealth game genre as a whole, the game shines like a freshly cut flower. But if you are stubborn about the tenchu franchise and the things to be stayed the way they are, then you'll be dissapointed.
